Probiotics: What Are They and What Are The Benefits?

Probiotics are live bacteria & yeasts that have amazing health benefits.

They are thought to help restore the natural balance of the bacteria in your gut. Probiotics are often called ‘good’ or ‘helpful’ bacteria because they keep your gut healthy. They can be found within supplements or certain fermented foods like yoghurts, kefir or kombucha, and of course our Cold-Pressed Super Smoothies!

Probiotics work in various ways, such as balancing the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ bacteria in the gut or if you lost ‘good’ bacteria after taking antibiotics for a long period of time, probiotics can help to replace them!

Probiotics can help reduce the risk and severity of diarrhoea from a number of different causes and with an increasing number of studies linking gut health to mood & mental health, taking probiotics may help improve symptoms of mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety & stress.

Our Cold-Pressed Super Smoothies contain a probiotic called ‘Bacillus Coagulans’. Bacillus Coagulans is a type of bacteria and it is used similarly to Lactobacillus and other probiotics as “beneficial” bacteria. Bacillus Coagulans forms spores when ingested, this is beneficial to the body because these spores multiply unlike other lactic acid probiotics which die before reaching the gut.
